Illuminated floor globe made of crystal glass, Ø 51 cm, mouth-blown, hand-coated.
The manufacturing of these models from mouth-blown crystal glass spheres is characterized by great craftsmanship. They are masterpieces of the traditional globe production and during their fabrication, nothing is left to chance. With a unique globe in mind, the artists work manually and with the highest precision. Here, the production speed is of lesser importance - after all, the goal is to create a true masterpiece. The production of a mouth-blown sphere is a real challenge, which only a few artists around the world rise to. Therefore, it can take several days until, with much skill and passion, the materials are combined into a cartographical and optical masterpiece.
Water covers 71 percent of our planet. The Pacific Ocean is larger than the area of all continents taken together. Actually, our planet should be called Water instead of Earth. The DUO AZZURRO immerses itself in the beauty of the oceans. Non-illuminated, one sinks into the deep blue of the seas, and the continents' radiant blue shading creates accentuations. Illuminated, the globe reveals the sight of the oceans' entire ground structure: Depths, sea basins, volcanoes, and seamounts as high as the Alps. Honored with the Book Award of the travel fair ITB 2016, the AZZURRO offers depth in the literal sense.
The steadfast detail: A globe needs firm support to develop its full appeal. With the Khan base design, the floor model rests on a classic column base coated with polished piano varnish and rotates in a stainless steel meridian graded on one side.
